National Science Day

Pushpa Gujral Science City celebrated National Science Day in collaboration with Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh on February 28, 2020. The day was celebrated to commemorate conferring of Noble Prize to Dr.C.V. Raman. The theme for the National Science Day 2020 was “Women in Science”. Science City celebrated this occasion by organising various activities and programmes aimed at inculcating interest of students towards science. More than 300 students from different schools participated on the occasion.

Expert lecture was delivered by Dr. Promila Pathak, Professor, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pathak emphasized on science and gender equality for achievement of internationally agreed development goals. She added that we need to encourage young women and girl students to undertake science education.

Dr. Neelima Jerath, Director General, Science City in her address to the students stressed on the need to enhance public awareness about the importance of science and technology in everyday life. While delivering her welcome address, she emphasized on dissemination of scientific information on various aspects to dispel superstitions and illogical beliefs prevailing in the society.

On this occasion Quiz and Science Play competitions were organized.
