Fun Science — Gallery Demonstrations

Colors By Polarization

The exhibit projects a multicolored pattern with changing colors on the screen. Various shades of colors are produced by shining polarized white light while passing through strips of different thickness of clear cellophane tape and then through a rotating polarizing filter near the lens.

Adventures in 3 Dimensions

The exhibit demonstrates the transformation of 2D figures like square, triangle & circle into 3D objects i.e., cylinder, cone and sphere respectively

Hyperbola

Prepare to be amazed and mesmerized by seeing the movement of the straight rod through the curved slots of Hyperbola geometry without touching them. It happens as the rod is designed to move in a hyperboloid path

The Gravity Well

The exhibit demonstrates that planets revolving around the sun or satellites revolving around a planet in an elliptical path move faster when they come closer to the sun or the planet.

Antigravity cone

It demonstrates that an object will keep on moving until it’s center of gravity (CG) is at the lowest point. In this exhibit, a double conic roller having it’s CG at its axis starts rolling upward when it is left at the lowest point of the rail (CG gets raised).

Dancing Ball

The exhibit demonstrates the principle of Bernoulli’s, which states that where the velocity of air is high, the pressure is low and vice-versa.

Moboeus Band with moving train

The train on the moboeus band start moving when you clap with your hands to produce a sound. You will be amazed to see train taking one full turn outside the band and another full turn inside the band which has a single twist. It also demonstrates the application of a sound switch.
