Pushpa Gujral Science City is celebrating World Environment Day on June 5, 2020. The theme for this year's event is ‘Biodiversity’. The main objective of organizing the programme is to enrich the knowledge of the masses about earth`s environmental resources and their conservation.

Due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, PGSC is organizing various online events as per following details:

Guidelines for Participation:

Poetry Competition:

Theme: Celebrate Biodiversity

  • The poem can be sent in English/ Hindi /Punjabi
  • There is no limit to number of entries per participant.
  • Awards will be in two categories, i.e. above 15 years and below 15 years.
  • The poetry should be relevant to the theme “Celebrate Biodiversity”.
  • Poem submitted should be original
  • Poem size: 10-20 lines.
  • Poem may be submitted preferably in PDF format to ensure that there is no tampering with the text
  • Poem must be typed in double-space in 12 point font. Hand written entries will be rejected.
  • No hard copies may be submitted.
  • Any plagiarized work will be disqualified. Contestant is required to attach a certificate as enclosed with the registration form along with the poem that the submitted entry is his/her original work.
  • PGSC reserves the right to accept/reject any/all entry/ies as well as not to award prizes if, in the opinion of jury, such an action is justified
  • PGSC reserves exclusive copy right of all entries and it will have the right to use these in any way.
  • If found suitable, PGSC will publish an e-book of poetry after the event. It will request text of poetry in word format from participants, whose poems are selected for inclusion in the e-book, to facilitate designing.

Declamation Contest:

Theme: Conserving Biodiversity for Sustainable Development

  • Awards will be in two categories, i.e. above 15 years and below 15 years.
  • Entry is restricted to one entry/participant.
  • The contestant can speak in English / Hindi /Punjabi.
  • The interested contestants must register by 1st June 2020 positively.
  • Each registered participant for this contest will be allotted a serial number so as to familiarize the contestant  with his/her turn to speak
  • Participants would be required to speak online for 3-5 minutes on the topic “Conserving Biodiversity for Sustainable Development” on 3rd June, 2020 (9.30 onwards). Please do not forget to mention your mobile phone number/ WhatsApp number and email ID so that tentative time of your turn can be conveyed to you. All participants will be required to remain on line at least 30 minutes before time given for their turn. The organizers will contact the registered participants maximum two times during the contest and your turn will be cancelled if the participant is either not online or do not attend the call.
  • PGSC will reserve the right not to award prizes if, in the opinion of the jury such an action is justified.

The Prize distribution ceremony will be held at Science City campus after the lockdown is lifted and PGSC is opened for public visitation and it is safe to travel for winners.  The date for the same shall be intimated subsequently through e mail. PGSC will pay only ordinary bus/train (Sleeper class) fare towards travel cost to winners, if demanded. No local travel will be payable.  Entry ticket to PGSC will be free for all the winners.
